Hi, I'm James
I'm an artist and teacher from the UK, deeply inspired by nature, which plays a central role in all my work. This passion has flourished in my landscape painting and drawing, where I've sought to capture the magic of the natural environment.
My journey began with traditional mediums like oil and acrylic paints, as well as printmaking during my university studies. However, discovering digital painting later on opened up a whole new world for me. Now, with over 17 years of experience in digital art, I find it incredibly liberating to create on the iPad, allowing me to explore and craft beautiful images no matter where I am.
Course Content
The course is divided into 80+ video lessons, providing more than 8 hours of in-depth content.
In it, I guide you through the essential fundamentals of drawing landscapes using Procreate on the iPad. We will delve into key concepts such as perspective and composition, while also learning how to effectively utilise colour, texture, and details. After mastering the basics, we will create three large and detailed landscape tutorials from start to finish.
The ultimate goal is to empower you to embark on your own landscape projects beyond the course, giving you the confidence to explore your creativity further.

MODULE 1&2
Introduction and Procreate essentials
Introduction to me as your teacher and an overview of how the course is set up, along with guidance on how to follow it using Procreate. Includes a beginner’s guide to the Procreate app.
MODULE 3&4
Setting up your workspace and Landscape essentials
Important technical information for setting up your workspace and 8 fundamental lessons that will help you understand how to create a successful landscape.
MODULE 5&6
Tree shapes and Summer landscape
11 videos exploring how to create trees in various shapes and styles, followed by a detailed summer landscape tutorial, broken down by topic and into easy steps, applying knowledge from previous modules.
MODULE 7&8
Autumn landscape and Winter landscape
Fully detailed tutorials for both autumn and winter landscapes, with each section broken down into easy steps that build on the skills developed in earlier modules.
AT THE END OF THE COURSE YOU'LL BE ABLE TO:

You have learned how to use and navigate the Procreate app, and you are confidently applying the knowledge to create landscape images.
Color palette creation
You are able to use your own references to build cohesive colour palettes and are applying the formal fundamentals of image construction to capture the mood and essence of your own landscapes.

You have built a foundation that enables you to confidently explore and develop your artistic skills further, already showing off your creations with pride.

We will look together at the materials, basic techniques, and knowledge needed to begin this journey. Approaching a new technique means first learning how best to use the tools at your disposal.
Practical exercises
Theory is important, but what makes you a true artist is... Lots of practice! You'll find lots of exercises to get started with and from which to get inspiration. I will show you some tricks that will turn your drawings into truly unique masterpieces.
